One of the things talked about on the "huoniao-owners club forum" was that the stock airbox is fairly restrictive and the engine doesn't always get the air it needs.
It was recommended that I look into a "performance" filter, so off to ebay i went and got a 42mm chrome cone air filter for just £6.50 delivered... from china (well the best things come from there anyway) here is what they look like:
quite small things when you have them in your hand,
anyway mine arrived just 3 days later! yep 3 days from china, stuff I ordered from England din't get through royal
So off came the seat in the usual fashion, then just two bolts on the top of the airbox removed it from the frame, and just the big metal clip had to be undone to remove the airbox manifold from the carb, here's what the stock box looks like:
the big manifold (air tube) is just clamped on, once this is removed the new filter can just be pushed on and clamped on tight, now just sit back, turn her on and listen to the roar!
Now one thing that is talked about is the air fuel mixture, now I have more air going to the engine, I have to increase the fuel to keep the mixture right.
so ebay provides again, a 95# main jet was ordered from "scooter assasins" in this size:
The carb come's off easily, just had to make sure it was drained of all fuel from the little tube and drain screw on the right hand side, (don't forget to turn off and disconecct the fuel tap and hose!) and the float bowl comes off with three screws, then it's just a case of popping the old jet out and popping the new one in below is a picture (off the forum) showing the main jet, a note i might add is to ensure you use a large, high quality screw driver so you do not mangle the soft brass.
a quick start up indicates all is well and felicity is rolled back for when she is next needed.
UPDATE: a quick jaunt down a local 60mph road, felicity struggled and spluttered at full throttle, damn too rich, aah well, popped the standard 90# jet in and all is well
Hey excited stuff precise substance your response on.
